Rakuten tiene un sistema de fidelidad (Rakuten Super Points), el cual los usuarios pueden obtener estos puntos por cada compra realizada, estos puntos los pueden utilizar para obtener descuentos en sus futuras compras. Este sistema es todo en éxito, no solo en Rakuten, en todos los comercios electrónicos que lo utilizan, en el caso de Rakuten, ha resultado la emisión total de más de 1 billón de puntos para sus clientes, lo que equivaldría a su cambio unos 9.100.000.000$.
Tras este éxito en su sistema quiere adaptarlo a la tecnología blockchain, con el objetivo de atraer nuevos clientes, aprovechando el gran interés por las criptomonedas.
Aún no se conocen detalles sobre como se integrará este sistema con la tecnología blockchain, ni cuando será lanzado finalmente. Habrá que esperar acontecimientos.
